A major business park development at Canberra International Airport, Brindabella, called for a unique hangar solution which seamlessly integrated the architecture and technology focus of the precinct with the heavy maintenance activities of a hangar.

The 84m clear span x 60m deep hangar for Qantas Defence is double 737 capable, and incorporates 2,700m² of back workshops and office space. Twin 5 tonne cranes suspended from the roof trusses provides virtually 360 degree coverage for activities on the hangar floor, enhancing Qantas Defence's productivity.

The result is a signature landmark for the airport, delivered on time and on budget, and an innovation showcase of aviation facility design technology.
