s2 design, technology and methodology delivered award winning results and preserved revenue streams in this signature project.
The lightweight, post-tensioned truss and infill roof system was assembled outside the stadium seating bowl and lifted into position with cranes. The Stadium remained fully operational during construction, with no internal propping from the stands or field required, thus preserving all available seats and ticket revenue throughout the busy football season (NRL, AFL and ARU).
The s2 solution delivered a high degree of sustainability with steel weight reductions of 40%, and was subject to rigorous scrutiny from international architects and engineers including Populous (then HOK Sport), Sinclair Knight Merz (incorporating Modus) and Arup.
