The shallow dome roof solution for Mt Barker Bowls club was designed to provide players and patrons with year round protection from the elements. The entire roof structure was assembled at ground level and stressed into its dome geometry before being lifted onto four main columns.
Effectively clear span on all four sides, the facility incorporates an electrically operable PVC fabric walls supported by non-structural mullions to provide full or partial enclosure at the push of a button.
Since installing the roof, the club has experienced increased patronage and has developed extra revenue streams through hiring out the space for sports and events other than bowls.
