ptarch has been pre-engineered and standardised to be rapidly manufactured, delivered and erected.
Key to the safety and success of ptarch is an installation methodology that sees the majority of construction activities being undertaken at ground level. This is a process that has been refined by s² over many years on many projects, and has resulted in 0 claims made 0 days lost to injury.
Once delivered on site and unloaded, truss pairs are easily assembled by a relatively small crew. Each truss is bolted together, not welded, while laying flat on the ground.
Trusses are lifted by crane in sections into position on purpose built temporary props, and bolted to complete the column free span.
When two completed truss sections are in place, purlins, insulation and roof sheeting, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and fire services can all be added while the roof sections are still at ground level.
Each truss is fed with high tensile stressing strand and stressed to precice loads. Once stressed and in its final form, a crane at each end simply lifts each completed section and places it onto columns.
Grouting of each bottom chord takes place after lifting. Infill purlins, services connection and roof sheet fixing completes the process.
This rapid and safe methodology has seen up to 5,000m² of roof area lifted in a single day on previous projects.
ptarch design can save up to 60% of materials when compared to a conventional design of the same clear span. Downstream advantages of this include significant reductions in transport, plant and equipment and labour requirements.
