B.Eng (Hons) Sydney University, Member of Engineers Australia, Governor of the Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering (Sydney University)
Continuing the pioneering work and innovative approach created by his father Peter Ellen, Murray Ellen is a leading expert in post-tensioned steel technology and has conceived, designed and completed projects in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Dubai.
Key to all projects completed by Mr. Ellen is his innovative use of steel design technology and construction methodology for large span structures, which he has developed and refined over many years. His designs have received multiple awards and are singularly unique in the global steel spectrum.
All of his work demonstrates the inextricable link between design, structural behaviour and construction methodology and the projects shown above and in this website outlines examples of this linkage.
In our current world where the embodied energy inherent in the creation of structures is attracting a higher level of importance, the ability to store energy in a structure enables a reduced carbon foot-print to be generated.
The fundamentals of Mr. Ellen's technology and advancements in design and analysis enable many more structures to be built from a given amount of material. This can save resources, and place steel in a better position as the material of choice for the future.
